From Big Band Roots to Retro Soul

Over 15 years ago, a talented group of musicians came together in Montreal to form a traditional swing big band. Performing under a different name at the time, the original band focused primarily on swing dance events, where dancers of all ages would arrive dressed in vintage attire, ready to Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Jitterbug the night away.

The band honed in on tempos and arrangements specifically crafted to keep swing dancers on their feet all night long. This shaped the band’s musicianship and built their reputation in Montreal’s vibrant swing dance community.

These early years laid a great musical foundation to build on. As time passed on and the musical landscape shifted, the band evolved and Ruth 66 Retro Band was born - an ensemble built on timeless music and a love for connecting with audiences of all ages.
